Girl, You Owe You!

It is always easier for us to give our very best for someone else. Today is the day for you to realize & repeat to yourself, “Girl You Owe You.”

If you are anything like me then you know what it is like to show up for everyone else. To ensure both friends and family know I am loyal willing to show up for them in all scenarios.

For a long time I believed that putting everyone else before me meant I truly embodied selflessness. This way of life consumed both my personal and professional relationships. Clients always knew every time they called I’m answering, if a change was needed to a project I dropped everything to make the necessary edits. Clients got the best of my ideas and resources. All of my personal projects, plans, goals and dreams were on the back burner.

I remember going out with one of my girlfriends talking in length about our goals and dreams for our personal brands and businesses. A common theme shared by the both of us was giving so much of ourselves to the dreams to others. As the convo continued we came to the realization it was time for us to put us as the priority!

Mentally I made the decision not to let anyone or anything set up residency in my heart and mind. Over the past couple of years I drowning mentally, stressing myself over trivial things that were overwhelming. Physically grieving my grandmothers so the gym was the last thing on my mind. The bags of Lays that I was consuming was at least two PARTY size bags of chips, yes girl, PARTY size and two of them was getting out of control.

I didn’t come into 2023 with any resolutions only a mindset of being intentional and purposeful. With that in mind I remember whispering these words to myself, Girl You Owe You! I decided to take steps to to pay myself back for the years of neglect.

Starting with a calendar for 2023 so I could get back to my to do list of time blocking (more on that in detail later), decided to be consistent with the podcast, blogging all things centered around my dreams. I knew it was time for me to make healthy options for me. That included eating habits, professional habits, and life habits in general. My top priority became my health, my mental and the things that brought my heart joy.

As you are attempting to pay yourself back for the times you neglected you some people will say you are selfish, mean or down right not considerate. Let me remind you it’s okay if they think that but, “Girl, You Owe You! It is your time to pay yourself back. It is your complete right to be a little selfish, be focused on your own goals. You owe it to You to see the life that you have only dreamed of. Just know no matter what I am out here cheering you on, girl!

Now is the time to be completely focused on YOU!
