Eat What’s On Your Plate
Being an auntie is a such an amazing experience. My nephews are literally the cutest ever really are the best thing to grace this earth in my eyes. To have a front row seat as they grow up brings me such joy!
FaceTime is our families saving grace since they live in a different state, seeing their faces pop up on the screen is the highlight of my day. Talking to them makes me want to be a mother and a forever auntie at the same time. No seriously I want to be a mommy one of this days all things come in perfect time, a continued lesson to learn.
Noah & Nico are growing up way too fast for me I would love for them to stay babies forever. While on the phone Noah was eating could barely eat what was on his plate because he was focusing wanting what his mother was cooking in the kitchen. Like any child would dohe whines so that he can get what is being cooked. My brother looks over to him and says, "Hey eat what's on your plate, don't worry about what you have coming!"
First reaction I had was he sounds just like our dad! Then his words to Noah hit me like whew that’s deep. Now I must say I DID feel like my father finding motivation in my brothers words to share with yall. That simple one liner TOOK ME OUT!
If you are anything like me you have a long list of the things you want to accomplish and be at some point in this life. You are getting antsy because it hasn’t come yet. It is not within your reach yet, the work doesn’t seem to be paying off yet. Maybe you feel like me where you have put in sweat equity, tear equity, frustration equity and it hasn’t come yet. God reminds me often with a soft whisper or a nudge like my brother with Noah, “Hey eat what’s on your plate, don’t worry about what is coming.”
Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook posting seems to be at an all -time high during this pandemic we are living through. I must admit I feel guilty about the silent comparison I put myself through. The comparison has been killing my soul and I gotta get back to what's eating on my plate. I have been so focused on the next course I can’t even enjoy this appetizer in front of me.
You may be in the same boat as me. You have written down your dreams, you are slowly taking baby steps to get there but it seems that you can't get there quick enough. It seems life is just passing you by. It seems everyone else is seeing what they wanted come to past and you are lagging behind.
I love and hate when Facebook brings up memories. It is both a reminder of how far I have come and how much more I can grow. The other day Facebook reminded me of a quote I posted which said, "You are Right Where You Are Supposed To Be!"
How wonderful of a reminder to focus on what's on your plate don’t worry about what you have coming. Don't ever compare yourself to those around you. Enjoy where you are, enjoy the journey in getting there and the story you will share with the world.
