Girl, Create The Wave!

In my world music is a top tier pillar for me. Music heals, comforts and hypes me when necessary. Count on me in the middle of the conversation to make a song reference. Music fits every situation.

I have been working on some really big projects lately that require all of my faith not a lick of fear. It is both exciting and scary, there have been moments of waiting to hear back from clients where I have felt stuck. While getting ready one morning I heard the words, “Create the Wave.” Enter a song so fitting for this situation.

If you haven’t heard of Tobe Nwigwe and his wife Fat you have clearly been living under a rock. Tobe and his crew is an entire vibe, creating their own lane, never apologizing for their presence and producing music on their own terms. Do yourself a favor go to Apple Music now and download this song EAT. This song is forever my motivation in creating my own wave.

The entire song is amazing but it’s Fat’s verse that gets me every time.

“We don’t ride the wave we create it, that’s how we made it to Beyonce’s playlist. I’m about to be on a first name basis with Beyonce!”

Seems simple enough, right? Yeah but you gotta let that sink in your heart, mind and spirit.

“We don’t ride the wave we create it, that’s how we made it to Beyonce’s playlist. I’m about to be on a first name basis with Beyonce!”

This song is both a (1) Declaration for your life (2) Faith words creating reality.

The song reminds us all to create your own wave. Create what makes your soul feel happy, create what will feed not just monetary either. We live in a society where copy cats are winning (not really but it seems like it). We live in a time when we want to jump on trends, get into fields that make quick money. There is a constant sense of peering over at another person’s shoulder to cheat the game of hand work. The comparison mentality is alive and thriving. I believe it is high time for us all to sit, live and settle into our own uniqueness in creating our wave. This song inspires us all to do that.

Tobe & Fat’s words of faith create reality, “I’m about to be on a first name basis with Beyonce.”Their words became reality as they were apart of an Ivy Park campaign not too long ago with Beyonce! Those words should help push you into creating your wave for you, doing what you love!

Three takeaways:

  1. Create what you want to see and shut up about the rest!

  2. Stand in your own creativity of who you are

  3. Don’t second guest how dope you are.

Be that your business, your music, your writing, your ideas. Whatever it is, #GirlCreateYourWave
