Jee’s 40 Lessons @ 40!
Turning 40 is a real milestone for me. I’ve gained valuable life experiences, made mistakes and learned important lessons. This week I share the 40 lessons I have learned at 40. Gone head girl read this about the 40 Lessons I’ve learned at 40!
Baby I’m Weak!
I leaned heavily into the idea of being the “Strong Black Woman” In the face of adversity I taught myself never to cry in situations that hurt me, broke my heart and even crushed me. I wanted to never look weak so I would endure and remind myself I’m strong enough to handle any situation simply proving my strength.
Girl, Take That Nap!
It’s important to note that the act of taking a nap has not always been celebrated within the black community especially black women. In fact, there has been a long-standing stigma surrounding napping, with some black women being accused of being lazy or unproductive if they choose to take a nap during the day. Recently I took a step back to catch my breath and figure out how I could untangle myself from this rat race I have been in.
Hitting Rock Bottom
Hitting rock bottom can impact people in many different ways . In my moments of rock bottom I felt as if I had lost complete control of my life. Priding myself on being in control of everything and everyone, my rock bottom moments proved I was so wrong. My rock bottom brought about a powerful moment of clarity. Although difficult, brought about much sadness, and frustration rock bottom pulled me in the direction of positive change and personal growth.
