Hey, Girl! Welcome Back
Don’t let others make you feel you are behind or need to hurry to hit these life goals based on society’s standards. Choose not to subscribe to the gloom and doom of the world. Find you some peace and pockets of grace and joy. When given the option to shrink, shy away from what you were purposed to do in this life, DON’T! Take a time out, get some water, catch your breath and try it again.
I Ain’t Code Switching No Mo’
It reminded me of what I heard comedian Deon Cole said, “Don’t you code switch another day!” Right in that moment I literally said, “You right!” His point being don’t you shrink yourself to fit into these spaces that you really don’t want to be in. Don’t shrink and change who you are so that others are comfortable with your presence.
A Grandma Jefferson Kinda of Love
Our antics in church were full of sidebar conversations, Fiddle Faddle pork skins, her taking notes with her sharpie on her tithe envelope, making sure that Bishop knew she was an active listener. From time to time she would dose off but know if I tapped her she would tell me..I heard every single word.
Girl, Create The Wave!
“We don’t ride the wave we create it, that’s how we made it to Beyonce’s playlist. I’m about to be on a first name basis with Beyonce!”
We live in a society where copy cat mentalities, bandwagon groupies and crowds seem to be the going thing now. It is a constant peering over at another person’s paper to see how we can do what they do the same way. Instead of us focusing on what we have inside to create what is needed for the world. Or in this case, how we can stop riding the wave, but Create Your Wave.
